Embellish Stabilizer - Fusible Underlay - Black (30" X 3yds)

Fusible Gentle Support for Fine Fabrics
NOTE: This is for "Black"

Embellish® Fusible Underlay is a sheer, fusible, premium interlining used to upgrade and protect the integrity of embellished fabric. This product is not a stabilizer; instead, it is underlining that creates a bond with the fabric, forming a protective barrier without changing the drape of the fabric. It adds substance to specialty and loosely woven fabric (lamé, loosely woven cotton, silk, satin, taffeta, etc.) to prevent needle penetration from shredding or causing runs in the fabric. It is also perfect for adding a light structure when working with home décor, pillows, or creating garments or purses. Prep the back of fabric before cutting out bias angles for garment construction, foundation piecing, or quilting. It works great as a protective layer to seal the bobbin thread to prevent scratching on wearables like onesies and t-shirts. If it is fused using steam, the fusible forms a permanent bond with the fabric. It is also available in a heavier, bold version for added strength.

Which one do I choose? Embellish® Fusible Underlay or Embellish® Fusible Underlay Bold? Here is an example to answer the question. If you are creating a lightweight, embroidered, summer jacket using silk fabric, you will want the jacket to hang nicely and not be bulky. For the front, back and sleeves, a good choice is to fuse the yardage of silk with Embellish® Fusible Underlay. Embroider and embellish the yardage and then cut out the pattern pieces. Now, for the collar and cuffs, a good choice is to use Embellish® Fusible Underlay Bold to add more structure, as you usually see in ready-to-wear.

Contents:

Premium polyester/rayon proprietorial blend.

Stitch Count:

N/A. This is not a stabilizer.

To Use:

  1. Cut a piece of Embellish® Fusible Underlay larger than the embellished or embroidered area or large enough to cover the entire yardage.
  2. Place the fusible side (textured side) to the wrong side of the fabric and press.
See note below for pressing instructions.

Important – Use a low temp, dry (Silk Setting) on your iron. Do NOT touch the surface of your iron to Embellish® Fusible Underlay, press from the fabric side, or use a press cloth (natural fibers such as muslin or cotton). All irons heat differently. The iron temperature given is a starting point. If you find that you are not getting a good fuse, slowly increase your iron’s temperature until you achieve a good bond between the fabric and underlay.

  3. Embroider, sew, quilt or embellish the item using the appropriate stabilizer in addition to Embellish® Fusible Underlay.

Laundering and Care:

Launder and dry the item according to the fabric material fiber content.
